Avalanche Hometown Remix Jersey: Mountain Details, Muted Colors and Six Games
Colorado’s white and silver Hometown Remix jersey has Rocky Mountain details, but its restrained palette may leave fans wanting more.

The Colorado Avalanche’s new Hometown Remix jersey has a clear idea behind it: bring the Rocky Mountains onto the uniform through blue elevation patterns, silver accents and a mostly white base. The club and the NHL unveiled the design on November 2, 2026, and Gabriel Landeskog modeled it. The concept is easy to understand. The visual impact, at least from the images released, is less convincing.

A mountain theme in a restrained palette
The NHL’s description says the jersey uses a mountain elevation pattern in graduated shades of blue across the front crest and back numbers. Rocky Mountain details appear on the shoulders, while metallic silver and additional silver trim frame parts of the design. The stated aim is to suggest snow, frost and the crisp look of a high-altitude winter day.
That visual language fits Colorado. White and pale blue make sense for a design rooted in snow-covered peaks, and the silver gives the jersey a cold-weather finish. But the same restraint limits the contrast. From the released images, the blue and silver details don’t separate strongly enough from the white to give the whole uniform the immediate punch that a special design needs. Landeskog’s action photos help show the texture and pattern, though the palette still feels quiet.
There’s a familiar reference point in the design’s blue tones, which recall a division rival’s look. The Avalanche could have made the jersey feel more distinctly their own by bringing in some of the club’s traditional burgundy. Even a measured use of that color might have sharpened the contrast without taking away from the snowy theme.
The simplified C crest keeps the front clean, but it also leaves an opportunity unused. A Yeti-foot detail could have given the jersey a stronger Colorado identity and a more unusual focal point. That’s the tradeoff here: the design is polished and coherent, yet its most memorable elements are subtle. Fans who prefer a restrained uniform may like that balance; supporters looking for a bold remix may find it too careful.
The reveal had already taken a detour
The unveiling was less of a surprise for Avalanche followers because a version of the design had circulated on social media the previous week. That leaked image also showed an apparent number and captain’s mark mismatch: a captain’s C placed on a No. 29 Nathan MacKinnon jersey. The version shared by the club corrected that detail, with captain Gabriel Landeskog wearing No. 92.
The mix-up gave the reveal an odd prelude, but the final presentation put the jersey on the right player. Landeskog’s place in the team’s leadership makes him a natural choice to model a club uniform, and the photos also make the blue patterning easier to see than a flat product view might. Still, the design has to work at a glance. A jersey worn at game speed is judged by its overall shape and contrast as much as by the fine detail in its crest and shoulders.
Six appearances, beginning against Detroit
The club announced that the Avalanche will first wear the Hometown Remix jersey at home against the Detroit Red Wings on November 7. Colorado is scheduled to use it six times in total, with the November 27 game the only road appearance in the set. That gives the uniform a defined run on the schedule and gives fans several chances to see how the mountain pattern reads under arena lighting and in motion.
Those first games will offer a better test than launch imagery. The blue elevation marks and silver trim may stand out more once the jersey is moving on the ice, while the white base could give the design a crisp look against the rink. The same conditions might also make the pale colors blend together. For now, the concept is stronger than the first impression: the Rocky Mountain reference is specific, and the execution is tidy, but a touch of burgundy or a more distinctive crest could have made the connection to Colorado unmistakable.
The jersey succeeds at communicating snow and altitude. Whether it becomes a fan favorite will depend on how those details come across during the six scheduled appearances, starting November 7 against Detroit.
